Sierra Club

Founded in 1892, the Sierra Club is a national organization with more than 60 chapters and over 625,000 members.  The Sierra Club’s purpose is to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth’s ecosystems and resources; and to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environments. An important part of the Sierra Club’s current work at both the national and chapter level focuses on environmental and public health problems associated with energy generation, and the Sierra Club regularly advocates for energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
